Sunday Reset Routine

Do you ever feel like you need to press a reboot button on your body after a long, stressful week?

If you're busy with work, Christmas shopping and end-of-semester exams, you've probably been putting self-care on the back burner. There's nothing wrong with prioritising your time, but it's also important to remember that taking care of your body and mind isn't a luxury, but a necessity! If you're continuously living in a high-stress environment, you could end up burning out and unable to enjoy the holiday season with your family and friends. Here are some small steps I make sure to take every Sunday to take care of myself and my environment.

Clear out clutter

I'm looking at that one pile of clothes in your room that you've been saying you'll fold and put away for a while, or the tangle of wires and clutter on your desk which somehow hasn't sorted itself out yet. Clutter in your environment causes stress and anxiety, and that can make you feel too overwhelmed to deal with smaller cleaning tasks. Set aside an hour this Sunday, create a playlist with your favourite songs which make you sing out loud, and tackle each section of your room or house one by one. Give yourself small treats in between each section to motivate yourself and you'll be done before you know it! You would be surprised by how quickly a clean room destresses you!

Bake some treats for the week

This might be where you immediately stop reading if you're not someone who

likes to cook or bake. But, hear me out, it can be a really great way to prepare yourself for the week! Making yourself a healthy treat which you're excited about eating when you get home from work or taking with you to university is the ultimate act of self-care. What better way to get through a Monday morning than with a slice of banana bread or a dark chocolate chip cookie? Simply switch out your usual flour for wholemeal flour if you want an easy way to make your favourite treats more nutritious.

Sweat out stress

Don't sweat it if you've been neglecting your workout routine! Your body will benefit from a workout even if you only do it once a week. Take half an hour out of your Sunday to do a pilates or yoga workout which will help you improve your posture, or go on a nice long walk to help you spend some time off your phone.

Detox your skin

Of course, it wouldn't be a self-care Sunday without a face mask or two! I always pick three of my go-to face masks from Apivita to completely rejuvenate my skin. I usually start off with the Bilberry or Olive Express Beauty Face Scrub to deeply exfoliate and get rid of dead skin cells. I follow that up with the Express Beauty Pink Clay Mask if my skin is feeling sensitive, or the Green Clay Mask if I need

a deeper detox. Clay masks are an effective and gentle way to get pollution and dirt out of your pores. Finally, I'll use a soothing and moisturising mask like the Express Beauty Aloe mask. I find that this final step is essential to giving my skin a healthy, hydrated glow. While the face masks are working their magic, I like to use that time to clean my makeup brushes or organise my skincare drawer.

What does your typical Sunday look like? No matter what your plans are, I hope that you take the time to destress and treat yourself after a busy week!
